5. Masterpiece of the Month
“The Purpose of Art is washing the dust of daily life off our Souls.” -Pablo Picasso
We are getting ready for our PTA sponsored Masterpiece of the Month to start up in October!
What is Masterpiece of the Month? A monthly art program for Grades 1-5 where the kids are introduced to an Artist and a famous masterpiece through discussion, crafts and reading.
Can you help out? YES!! We need parent volunteers for each classroom to continue to make this program a success.
Is it a huge time commitment? NO! Maybe 1-2 hours for the month you are presenting and we try to have at least two parents for each classroom so you only have to present every other month. But I know nothing about Art? THAT’s OK! We have lots of resources and very experienced parents that have done this for years and can help out.
Will my kid think I am a Rock Star? YES! In fact, every kid in the class will think you are a Rock Star! The smiles we get when we walk into the classroom each month are priceless not to mention the imagination and creativity we are fostering.
We currently REALLY need help in the following classrooms:
Grade 1 Ms. Quill, Grade 2 Mr. Swade, Grade 4 Mr. Miller, and Grade 5 Ms. Vanacora.
Please contact Kristi Maher kmaher@ftportfolios.com or 630.772.1966

8. Help Update the Family Directory
Whittier PTA publishes our only school directory, which parents find invaluable for carpooling, homework help, play dates, and more. If you officially signed up for PTA, you were able to choose whether you’d like to purchase a paper copy. A free online version is accessible to all registered users of the PTA website.
Review or add your directory listing NO LATER THAN MONDAY, OCT 3.
If you’re a returning Whittier family, your directory listing has been updated to reflect your student(s)’s grade(s) this year, but please be sure all information is correct: whittierschoolpta.org/directory-listing/
If you’re a new family (welcome!), please enter your directory listing:
whittierschoolpta.org/directory-submit/
We take privacy seriously, and accessing the online directory requires you to log in with the username and password you used to register for the PTA website. If you’ve forgotten your username or password, visit our help page.
Please note that online directory listings will be used in the paper directory, as well, so whether you plan to access the directory online or in print, please be sure your online directory listing is accurate. If you have questions, please contact Ann Russell. Thank you!
