1. Summer Math Club Volunteer Request
Summer Math Club is Coming Soon! Please be on the lookout for an informational flyer coming home in your child’s folder this week. We are also in need of 5 parent volunteers to volunteer for Summer Math Club Prize Days at the Downers Grove Public Library. The check-in dates are as follows: June 17th and 18th, July 8th and 9th, July 29th and 30th, and August 12th. If you are interested in signing up for one of these dates, please contact Lisa Folkening at a_folkening@hotmail.com
2. 2019/20 Open Committee Chairs
The PTA still has THREE open committees in need of chairs for next school year! See below for a list and description of each committee. If interested to learn more about what is involved/time commitment or to volunteer email either Susan Lorenc or Jenn DiCosola
- Reflections
- Reflections is an inspirational art competition sponsored by the National PTA and supported by Whittier’s PTA. Volunteers on this committee judge the art pieces submitted by students to determine which pieces will move on to the next stage of the competition. Reflections volunteers may also be asked to help with collection and redistribution of the art pieces.Target Number of Volunteers: 1-5
Estimated Time Commitment: 1-3 hours per year
Required Availability: Flexible

- This committee works on the week each spring dedicated to making the Whittier teachers and staff feel appreciated. This includes various recognitions from year to year but always includes a luncheon mid-week. Volunteers provide items for the luncheon and help to determine, package, and distribute other appreciation gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week.Target Number of Volunteers: 1-5
Estimated Time Commitment: Minimal in general / 8 hours during Teacher Appreciation Week
Required Availability: Weekday Mornings and Afternoons (during Teacher Appreciation Week)

- Young Rembrandts is an after-school art program held on Tuesdays for Whittier students. Our school requires a parent monitor/liaison to be present at each class. Tuition for your child is discounted/free based on your commitment.Target Number of Volunteers: 1-3
Estimated Time Commitment: 1 hour per week
Required Availability: Tuesday Afternoons, after school
