Please plan to join us at our next General PTA Meeting on Tuesday February 16th at 7pm in the LRC. Babysitting will be available. We will be discussing and finalizing plans for the final year of fundraising for the Playground Initiative. This project will go to bid in February of 2017. We would love your input, involvement and support. We plan to move this up in the agenda for those that need to sneak out early.

Young Authors
All students are invited to submit entries for the Young Authors competition. Entries are due to the LRC by Friday, February 26, 2016
Downers Grove Bookmark Contest
Design an original bookmark about your favorite book or about reading! Entries accepted between January 4 – February 8, 2016. While some classes may have an opportunity to work on their bookmark during LRC time, other classes might not.
• Winners chosen for each grade: Kindergarten through sixth and junior high.
• Winning bookmarks will be printed on winner’s choice of colored cardstock.
• Winners receive 35 copies of their bookmark, a certificate, and a prize.
• Honorable Mention winners receive a certificate and a prize.
• Winning bookmarks will be displayed and distributed in the Kids Room of the Downers Grove Public Library.

3. District PTA Upcoming Meetings – SIT Conference February 20th
The annual SIT conference will take place in Bensenville on February 20th. This is a technology driven conference for children in grades 3-12. For more information visit

Send in a can of soup (or 2, or3) to vote for your pick of the winning team of this year’s Superbowl – the Denver Broncos or Carolina Panthers. All soup will be donated to a local food pantry.
Thursday is the Winter Wiggle after school until 3:45. Admission is $1.00. Let’s dance with Coach Josh!
Next week begins our 2-week classroom General Mills boxtop challenge! Send in those box tops and help your child’s classroom win a gift card from Student Council. All box tops should be trimmed and have expiration dates later than March 1, 2016. We will have a classroom winner each week and a grand prize winner too! Stayed tuned for updates!
Friday 2/5 is a Football Spirit Day! Wear your favorite team’s jersey or colors on Friday!
Finally, next Tuesday, 2/9, is Mardi Gras Spirit Day! Dress up in your purple, green, and gold and add those beads!
