Destination ImagiNation
In the 1980s MacGyver thrilled us with his ability to solve problems using only the materials at hand – maybe a roll of duct tape, a few paper clips and an ID card. Destination ImagiNation gives students of all ages (K-College) the chance to put their imagination to work and do the same. Destination ImagiNation is a program that builds participants’ creativity, problem solving, and teamwork in enjoyable and meaningful ways. Teams of students choose one of several challenges (e.g. improvisational, technical, scientific, service, fine arts) to create solutions over several months. Students also prepare for an instant challenge (could be performance or building-related) for the day of competition. This is an amazingly well run program with lots of support. For more information on the program and how to start a team, check out the Illinois DI website https://www.illinoisdi.org/ or contact Debbie Dobrez (dobrezdebbie@gmail.com). Also contact Debbie to register your team.
