How Do We Show Appreciation?
The PTA works to make Whittier teachers and support staff feel appreciated for all of their hard work throughout the year! This includes various recognitions, as well as:
- Parent-Teacher Conferences – The Staff Appreciation Committee provides meals and/or snacks for teachers/staff during parent-teacher conferences.
- Classroom Teacher Holiday Gifts – Room Parents collect funds from families at the beginning of the year to support group gifts from the entire class. The Executive Board also provides individual tokens of appreciation for every staff member that works with our students. The Staff Appreciation Committee also provides a holiday luncheon.
- Appreciation Week in May – This typically includes meals, gift cards to purchase classroom supplies and other tokens of appreciation for a week-long celebration of ALL of our amazing teachers and staff. This includes classroom teachers, specialty teachers (art, PE, etc.) and staff (front office staff, social worker, nurses, resource professionals, instructional assistants, our custodial staff, crossing guards, etc.).
