We wanted to share the following important announcement from the District 58 Board of Education, regarding a vote on next steps for the District Facility Planning, which includes the potential movement of 6th grade into the Middle Schools.
The District 58 Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Monday, Feb. 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Administrative Service Center, 1860 63rd St.
District 58’s Citizen Task Force recently met to discuss whether District 58 should consider moving to a grade 6-8 middle school model. During the productive 3.5-hour meeting, the task force toured Herrick Middle School and participated in large group and small group discussions. At the meeting’s conclusion, the task force recommended District 58 launch a community engagement plan to educate the public regarding the District’s facility needs and the possible benefits and drawbacks of the grade 6-8 model and gauge their support.
During tonight’s meeting, the Board will review and be asked to approve the facility planning community engagement plan, as recommended by the District’s Citizen Task Force.
