
Sometimes called “Outside Programs”, as outside organizations host these opportunities at our school for a fee to participants. Currently these include BAM Theatre, Chess Scholars, Young Rembrandts and Language Labs. See below for more information.
All programs must have a volunteer parent/guardian present to occur.
Note: As a service to Whittier families, The Whittier PTA assists in coordinating logistics of this program at the school – the PTA does not set pricing nor does it make any money from program registration.

BAM Theatre

BAMtheatre was founded in 2001 to create opportunities for young performers of all skill levels to receive professional musical theatre training and education. It is their mission to empower young artists through theatre education by cultivating upstanding, creative, and inspired young artists who work to make the world a better place.

Chess Scholars

Develop your child’s intellect through the fun game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity.
No previous knowledge of chess is necessary. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both new and returning participants are welcome and will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach.

Language Labs

Language Labs is offered by the Whittier PTA on a for-fee basis one day/week after school through the Language Labs organization. Parent/Guardian volunteers help liaise between the school and Language Labs for session scheduling and information distribution purposes. One PTA parent volunteer must also be present each week during sessions in order to assist with attendance and overall supervision.
Fall 2023-2024 session is open for registration!
Young Rembrandts
