Whittier Walking Club is an optional activity offered to all students in the fall and spring during their recess time. On a weekly basis students can opt to join Walking Club and walk laps around the school. With each lap they can collect tickets from adult volunteers. Then every 4th week, the volunteers open the Whittier Store, where students turn in their tickets for a variety of toys and trinkets. It’s a simple activity but kids love it and look forward to collecting their tickets!
Walking Club is back for Fall! Want an easy way to volunteer, and surprise your kids over their lunch recess? Sign up using the link below (Fall 2024)! Kids can use any tickets they have leftover from last year on store days.

Key Information for Volunteers
Ticket Days: Break into groups and spread out to 3-4 corners of the school
perimeter. Grab a lanyard with a grade number on it (one for first recess, one for
second recess) and a ticket roll. Simply pass out tickets to students from that
assigned grade level as they pass you. Remind them not to run and ensure they
are all walking in the same direction.
Store Days: The Committee Chairs will deliver the store supplies. Help to set up the
tables in the rear of the school. Treat bins will be labeled with ticket values. Let
the kids shop and trade in tickets for trinkets. Organize and repack items at the
end o the store.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Volunteers must check into the front office and provide their photo ID prior to each session.
